The Brotherhood and Defense

The Brotherhood of Light is a peaceful refuge for wayfarers but has had to change from its older ideals of peaceful coexistence with all other beings. More recently, it has been attacked and encountered invading groups. They had to develop an approach which honored the souls of these warriors but deflected their weapons and attempts to invade the lodge. They were able to survive the attacks with the help of outside aid but decided that they had to become more independent and learn to defend themselves. They regretted this necessity.

Before each battle or act of aggression, they pray, "May their violence be deterred and may the souls of the aggressors be at peace".

The Brotherhood has gates and guardians that are usually able to stop incursions, but they have additional defensive strategies if some aggressors make it past the gates. Even the heavens have warrior angels, and here both the gates themselves and the guardians who defend them have special abilities, and can fight if necessary. Some of the Brotherhood's members have chosen defense as a specialty, and there are also volunteer defenders who can help if needed. They welcome serious seekers but will not tolerate aggressors.

They have had to be careful with the lodge's boundaries and guard them. Sometimes there are tensions and disagreements even in the spiritual worlds. The Brotherhood has managed to avoid such tension for many centuries, but in more recent years, the tensions have come to the Brotherhood. That is why they had to prepare.

The Brotherhood's main focus is still compassionate action, and they are an organization primarily dedicated to helping lost and suffering souls. They help these souls remember their pasts, realize their deeper goals, and organize their futures.

The Brotherhood's leaders have been good and caring people, and the group has not had the internal struggles of many groups. But they must be alert to external problems and be able to respond appropriately.
